Van & A came back to remove some of her stuffs. So good to have them around.

Retirement lunch for Winston. We met in 1974.

Dinner at Marga's place. Dolly has come back. I had no appetite eating alone. So my slimming plan should be easy. Just dine alone and will lose 20 lbs in due course.

UCH - nothing bad. But I had to wait there from 3:10 pm to 6 pm. Gone back to office since I left my mobile there. Can't do without the mobile. Loss of communication. Not many public phones can be found. 24 days before Nita will return.

Studying abroad is really a good training for independence, mixing with strangers and sinking into new culture. Min comforted me by saying that I should learn to enjoy to be alone. She said, "After all, it is nice to be alone sometimes." She keeps on encouraging me to weary trendy clothes, maintain a hairdo and make-up fresh. She is as usual cute.

Min is thinking of what subject to puruse in U next year. Not easy. I am very very very much alone. Min is wonderful in making adjustments in UK. I might not be able to do the same.

Many are retiring one by one. ..................... Adjustment for me, too.

After Lorraine has returned, I will be even more lonely.

How could I face my own retirement? That may be the reason why some retirees even start to join the group of people they did not like before. Better than to be let alone. Man is afriad to be outgrouped.

We had lunch at Causeway Bay. Then, HSBC Central.

Sogo at TST with Marga & Lorraine + Wenxi.

Back at home and sent Min to the Airport. Tiffany will study in UK after summer. Eventually, I cried in the bus on my return journey.

Will resume working tmr. Actually eight hours afterwards. It is today.

Terminal 2

Jerry flew to Beijing at noon. Wenjun flew back to Singapore in the evening. Marga, Jerry & Wenxi saw him off. Then, we dined in Chao Inn at Terminal 2.

Will play pingpong with Wenxi tmr from 10 am to noon down in the Club. Van & A will do the "3-days return" ceremony & bring back a roast suckling pig.

Min had gone out with Charmaine. So wonderful, Jessica is a friend of Van and her younger sis is a friend of Min. They both study Hotel Management coz their Pa is a senior manager in the hotel biz.

The Wedding

The weather has been rainy all these days. Luckily, we had a cloudy and breezy day on June 15.

Had been busy during the week trying on all the dresses and choosing jewels to wear.

All my guests had attended. I was very very very happy. My sisters & friends said I looked great. I felt great, too.

Reading "Barack Obama in his own words" edited by Lisa Rogak. The candidate speaks on everything from abortion to the middle east. He will probably be the first black President.

Min will arrive in the airport at 4:10 m. She has sms at about 2 am after check-in in Heathrow. Now I am quite used to her travelling by herself. So I had a good sleep last night. Unlike the first or second that she travelled alone that I was so restless and kept on phoning her.

Lorraine has some good news to me last night by her emails. However, I warn her for caution due my past nasty experience. We being straight-thinking and kind-hearted people sometimes do not exercise enough care for our own protection.

Porpor was able to buy some red strings for Van. So rare now these stuff for old traditions.

Looking forward to seeing Min this afternoon.

Chu told me that their dragon boat ranked 28th out of 30 competitors. Anyway, it is fun and for me it is so great to be able to row a dragon boat. Mayee has prepared us some dumplings. Delicious.

Lorraine, Jerry, Wenjun & Wenxi had dinner with their guest. Wenxi is very keen to come back to attend the wedding. Never been to one. He is a cheerful boy. I asked Lorraine to wear something like shocking pink. Too much of black on our head table.

I missed the days when the 2 girls would ask me to bring them down to have a walk and buy them some tiny things, like a pencil or a ruler or a soft toy or just browsing around.

Life is short. I must treasure.

Dinner with Porpor, Mike & Jeff at Kai Tin. Then Park & Shop. The warmest moments one could have. Imagine Jeff will grow into a tall man and could hardly spare me his Sunday evenings.

Van has returned. I have bought 3 cushions and golden cases and 4 red thin seating cushions for chairs.

Talked to Lorraine by IDD. She will have dinner with her guest on Tuesday.

Black Rainstorm

Waken up by thunders at 6 am. That is the beginning of my holidays.

Luckily, both Porpor & I got the cheungsams well fit. We are satisfied.

I had facial treatment. See if I can have my hair permed tomorrow.

Had tea at Pokka Cafe. Roast beef/soba salad. Very yummy sauce. Fresh ingredients. Much tempted to drink the Blue Mountain No.1 coffee. Eventually, I gave up cos it was too expensive. $68 + 10%.

a lonesome Friday night

Saw Winston in the morning. He is going to leave soon. We have known each eather for over 35 years. His wife will celebrate her brithday in mid June. So he cannot attend the party. Heavy rain during noon time. Met Jane who taught me putonghua many years ago.

Dinner at home with Nita. What a lonesome evening. The sky was so dark.

Talked to Marga over phone. She had her stomach test. Good news is no tumour. The bad thing about it must be the pain and anxieties going through the process.

Pa is in Haven of Hope being examined on his breath during sleep.

Winston thinks he has finished his work for the whole life. He said he would not fear death if it is instant. He just fears old age, sickness and sufferings. He will see me and treat me a meal after I resume work.

A staff jumped one floor down and hurt herself. She is now in hospital receiving treatment.

Marga talked to me over the phone after my work. She tel me yesterday but I was too busy. She began to sound normal though with lots of bad feelings retained.

Marga thinks I am very very strong.

If I could ever choose, I would like to be a spoilt little woman. Yet, the Supreme Being prefers me not.

Van & A are happy together. Both of them are lucky enough to have loving Moms forever supporting them.

Could not get hold of Min.

Arthur will bring us to Summer Palace tomorrow. That is a piece of good news for me. I enjoy the rain when it rains. I enjoy the sunhine when the sun shines.

Happiness is such a mystery. Can we touch it? Can we find it? Can we retain it?

Lots of pressure. However, I am much energized.

Sunday - pingpong. Dong Dynasty in Miramar Hotel for lunch with Paus. Banquet dress fitting - silver evening gown. Kevin had a suit with shirts. Bone-setter & dinner at Porpor's house. We all encouraged Marga.

Monday - bought a box of roast chicken rice with gravy/vege and went to Deneb's office. Very enjoyable company. She showed me the photos she took in Vietnam and Nagoya. 2 years' anniversary. A reunion dinner fixed on 27/6. Pastries from Starbucks. Dinner at Outback with Van. A & Van bought some furniture from IKEA, Causeway Bay.

Tuesday - the whole day for one project. Packed lunch and ate in canteen with everybody. Talked to D about her father. We all have our downs.

Wednesday - the 2nd day of the project. Intervening meetings on various subjects. Real trying. But I am glad that I can manage. That is a blessing. Lunch with the usual group at Wanchai. Dinner with Ag at ZEN. Never ending conversations. Both of us are proud to have nice friends around.

Prayer: - Let me remain loving and generous and smiling, rain or shine. May Van have a happy marriage. May Min have attainments in her studies. May all those around me are healthy and peaceful. May Sichuan quake victims rebuild their souls and homes quickly.
