dr wu

Took afternoon off to accompany Min to see Dr Wu. Met David & his wife on the way.

Lucy gave us a treat at Jiang shan Xiao.

Dr Wu is not as skillful as Dr Tong. There is a difference.

A diamond finger ring from Sanaco. Made in Italy. Half chain and half ring in white gold.

I have been so pampering myself at this X'mas. My golden rule: be good to oneself.

Dinner at Dan Ryan with Min. We had appetizers combo & cioppino + iced lemon tea.

Irene had bought us liver sausages, pork sausages & preserved duck legs. Joycelyn is so loving towards Anis.

Talked to Pam. She is happy to receive my call. Min will bring her presents and the donation.

The 43rd HK Brands & Products Expo

Sunday - bought mushroom and scissors, noodles & abalone etc after pingpong.

Marga has got a Hamilton wrist watch - mechanic - black dial - 50 m water resistent - stainless steel strap & sapphire crystal as her birthday present.

She likes it.

Dinner at Porpor's place. Gungung likes the goose liver sausages from Yung Kee.

Monday - work as usual. Had lunch with Agnes. Non-scratch in Man Ho Restaurant.

Dinner home. Bought Van a small can of 4 mix cookies from Jenny Bakery.

wedding banquet in Cheung Chau

Went to see The Tales of Despereaux in APM Palace with Min. Then some Japanese snacks.

It is a rare place holding banquets for us city guys. Very warm atmosphere. After all, we have been working together for such a long time. The sense of security and familiarity is irreplaceable.

Chu is happy.

Anis was sleeping when I went to see her. So pretty.

Discussions about God

Roger said, " He permitted you to recover?"

"But would it be better if it did not occur at all?"

"You should not judge things by face value." "He gives us tests."

"But He made us, He knows how fragile and weak we are. What is the point of testing?"

James said, "You can write to God. The letters sent to Jerusalem are placed in the wailing wall." "The man without limbs is really happy & peaceful. He has great skills in daily life." "Children do not fully understand parents when they are small or young. "

"But when they do, we are probably very old and even have died."

James agreed. He remembers once he was very angry with his mother. (Must be more than once). Now he understands but she has died long time ago.

Justina has just sent forward a ppt about beautiful life. Wonderful. Intellectually, I know. Sentiments wise and in reality, it is difficult to follow.

Rosana is silly to send me an email about the harm of OT. No use unless she can assist me to kick away some works or change the office culture iro my position or change my character/sense of responsibility.

T25 Swiss Made

Yung Kee at noon.

Agnes will go to Taipei for vacation. She likes the charcoal greay and red woollen shawls.

Monday, December 22, 2008

Dr Roy Wong

We brought Anis to see Dr Wong coz she vomitted some milk during night time.

After examination, Dr Wong found her a healthy baby. It was only over-feeding. He gave us lots of knowledge.

I went to Park n Shop to buy rice wine and red sugar. There are red sugar, ginger red sugar, black cane sugar & Okinawa cane sugar in rocks. Pearl River Bridge brand is the best for rice wine.

Taikoo manufactures all kinds of sugar.

Telford Plaza & APM so crowded.

ruby and aquamarine pendants

Miranda showed us with excitement her newly bought items from jewellery exhibition. I like the large ruby pendant with diamonds and the aquamarine pendant in heart-shape. Not interested in the gold pearl ear-rings and the big pearls finger ring and the black/gold ear-rings.

Physical condition has become normal again. So I know I love to live very very much. I don't want to die. Therefore, I do not really hate anyone. I have no room for those who are terrible. Just kick them out of my mind including their awful words or deeds.

I am greedy about every minute in this wonderful world.

Min has slept before I returned home. We always have different schedules.

Magdagascar 2

Had an enjoyable lunch at Lei Garden APM with Min. Had an enjoyable movie with her at APM Palace.

A lion has to fight very bravely and win before he becomes a King in the African forest. A lion can become a King in New York if he dances with excellence. When compelled by difficulties and supported by love, Lion the fighter can dance and Lion the dancer can fight.

True love accommodates differences - a giraffe marries a hippopotamus.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A hippopo is round and sexy and comforting in the heart of her admirer. Who needs slimming?

Crabtree & Evelyn is such a hot item for X'mas presents.

Hurray! As long as we have lavender hand cream and or Evelyn rose body lotion, we are really rich.

ill for a few days

Stomach ache & diarrhea.

Still went to work. X'mas parties & meetings.

Meg was unahppy about her colleagues' comments. Char was aggrieved by the pressure from her bosses. So common in our office life.

Taiji - I must be more persistent this time. Otherwise, a break will mean a long break.

Anis has receiced her present of jewellery. So rich & lucky. It is a gold necklace with a heart pendant.

Gungung was not feeling well all these days.

Min had made a banoffee pie for us last evening. I liked it but I could not take much.

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

QEH, Phillip & Jessie

Post surgery check-up.

Cleansing of teeth.

Hair cut & perm.

Then she went out with Karin.

Min had compared with Karin the school lives in US & UK. Luckily, she prefers the UK one which I am glad to hear.

Work tomorrow. Oh, noooooooooooooooo ...............

Monday, December 15, 2008

ATV - so dramatic

It is equally busy to be a housewife. I went to Jusco to buy a Silver Star wok and spades of the non-stick type from Korea. Yesterday, a Myer frying pan. I also bought a hose with shower as the old one was torn.

I bought some Italian big button mushrooms. Nita prepared some soup with pork bones + fish fins + conpoys + gingers. So delicious. A hot soup can save life.

Anis is indeed lovely. Fairly seems to know about her tasks.

What has happened to ATV new management?

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Fat Kwong St Sports Centre

We went to Megabox to take lunch - river fish - and met Ber's family.

Played pingpong at Homantin. A very good place. Clean & spacious.

Last year, I received a book about a famous Wrestler in Canada. This year, I received another book about a multi billion dollars hair industry entrepreneur in UK. Both have attained great successes after years of hardship.

Ella often said she preferred to be "Ordinary" people. My usual reply is "We are Ordinary enough." Yet, life does not exclude Ordinary people from sickness, mistakes & failures. Pains and Sufferings, too.

Dinner at Porpor's home.

Everything predictable is enjoyable.

Saturday, December 13, 2008

sleep is the best medicine/tonic

Went to Dr Lam for influenza vaccination. Medicine for the sore throat as well.

Good blood pressure.

Jusco and Park & Shop.

A light lunch. Then a deep sleep in the afternoon for more than 3 hrs. Best time of the week.

Retirement life could be nice.

Taiji, sleep, picnic, tea, reading, watching movies and playing mahjong, playing pingpong ...... visiting Lorraine in Singapore ....

Reading stories to Anis and buying her pretty clothes ................

min the philosopher

We had a hearty talk at dinner time. Sushi from Jusco & Ebi burger from McDonald's.

Lunch at Jiang Shan Xiao with KH, Ken & Yau.

Taiji again. Very relaxing & interesting.

Anis has seen the doctor. Everything was fine. Van, too.

Agnes is a friend indeed.

Bad weather. Both Maggie & James fell sick for a few days.

min home

Wednesday - Plane was late by 2 hrs 20 mins. Spent time in eating Japanese noodles by myself. Took a walk in Terminal 2 - Sky Scraper. She has grown up - got 3 offers from UCAS. Dinner at Van's place. We met Millie downstairs.

Thursday - X'mas party at Eastern. I remember last year and the farewell lunch for Winston. I felt that it was just yesterday. Rosana, Pauline, Lam & Kong at the same table.

Min went to Dr Tong.

We shopped at Great. Mak came to our place. Friends since childhood are never replaceable. It is good that she has moved to the building next to our estate. Terribly convenient. Min met Jor yan-ling. So strange. She met so many old folks.

I bought a leisure suit for Van - pink & grey.

Mickey will come next Monday, Wednesday & Friday. He is reliable.

Anis has big eyes and her nose bridge seems to be more conspicuous.

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

do u want to exchange yr position with him/her?

A good question.

When I complain about this and that, who and who, I am asked: "Do u want to exchange your position with ABC?

I have given thoughts to it and the reply is "NO".

I still prefer to be myself. So that's it.

Terrible sore throat. When I swallow food, it is so painful.

My prayer tonight is "Go away, sore throat."

Spent my afternoon in Fanling.

i am happy!

Sunday - pingpong in the morning. Lunch at TST East with Paus. Dinner at Porpor's home.

Monday - worked the whole day. Lunch with B & W. Dinner at Van's home with Irene & Joycelyn.

Problem-solving and dealing with people. HR matters took up most of the time.

I am happy with Min. 2 offers received. She has grown up a lot. Improvement in English is obvious.

To be alive & healthy is great!

Saturday, December 06, 2008

busy busy busy

APM. Kwun Tong markeet. Jusco, APM. Park & Shop. Sogo - 6/F, 9/F & basement.

Friday, December 05, 2008

Anissa

Anissa is a variant of Agnes (Greek) meaning "pure, holy, satisfaction, favoured grace".

Taiji class - very relaxing. A treatment to our body & soul.

Thursday, December 04, 2008

The Brothers 4 at HKCEC

It brings back memories of my young days. It is a group 50 years old.

The photos of Anis are so pretty.

Lunch at Lippo.

Wednesday, December 03, 2008

life is most precious!

Running between hospital and office.

Lunch at Wanchai with the usual group.

Laughters and hope - when people view the babies.

Min is counting down and looking forward to seeing Anis.

Tuesday, December 02, 2008

little baby anis was born

Lovely! 7 lb 1 oz = 3.2 kg.

8:49 pm at Baptist Hospital.

So I had to leave the restaurant half way during dinner.

We were all joyous to receive her.

Mike, May, J & J went to visit her. Por ......

Thank God for everything!

my prayer

Thailand - would God have mercy on this country.

Van - Holy Mary will be with her and bless her.

Many are getting fired - may they have strength to go through this turmoil.

Min is coming home, safe & happy. Let her be admitted into a University & finish a degree. May she grow up confident and pleasant. Healthy & kind-hearted.

Gungung, Porpor ......... and all those whom I love ...........

Just heard from radio some critical remarks on the Govt for some Sex Festival? Naked models for portraits and some male sex workers offering massage services in the eyes of the public. Cannot understand nor judge it at all.

Cheng is relieved as her daughter skips unemployment.

Where is their corporate conscience? So many have earned monies for their organizations. Now, just being kicked out even the businesses have brought them huge profits. Hateful!

Chu's son-in-law bears the same Chinese name as Chu. What a co-incidence!

Sunday, November 30, 2008

tai tong

Agnes was missing. We could have more fun, otherwise. Anyway, we had fresh air and some exercises. Food was not worth mentioning.

Linda Ronstdat. Many oldies. Wonderful songs that bring me back to my younger days. Radio is a great invention. It is my good companion ever since Van got married and Min went back to study in UK.

Music, news, talks & weather reports....... It gives me information without judgment. I can turn it off any time I am tired or find it not agreeable. It is portable and either stays on the table or in my bed next to my pillow. Not taking up much space. It has a variety of programmes. 24 hours x 7 days. Economical. It will not betray me or irritate me or cheat me.

Back to work again tomorrow. Thank God I have a secure employment.

Van wears the Nike tee I bought for her.

Min sent along 3 photos.

Saturday, November 29, 2008

taikoo place

Dr Hon at Mongkok.

Had lunch with Ella at Taikoo Place. Then, we went to Mrs Chan's boutique at North Point. I bought a beige coat.

Had latte & blue berry muffin at McCafe. Flora.

A pink robe and a black Nike Tee for Van.

Dinner at home.

Bangkok is horrible. Bombay is chaotic. Where is a place without disasters? Acts of God or human errors?

Heaven!

taiji class again

Taiji class again. For the last course, I only attended 2 lessons. Try the new course today. Really enjoyed it. So relaxing. My body & soul. In the group of Hui, Estella, Li, Hing & Josephine. Even Lina. Felt great.

Agnes dined at my home. She brought along 2 lamingtons and one piece of choco log cake and one piece of blueberry cheese cake. She is a Canadian Chinese and westernized.

We chatted & chatted.

Loletta Chu remarried. Proposal is an honour a man pays to a woman and marriage is a commitment by both. Wedding is a ceremony and marriage is a lifelong venture.

Free lunch at Lippo. There is free lunch in this world.

Bombay massacre and Bangkok Airport still in chaos.

Nick Vujicic

How could you? Born without limbs and yet you stand tall with a warm smile and talk with a contented tone.

I cried when I first saw the clip from YOUtube.

Difficult to pronounce his surname though I repeatedly listened to his own introduction. From Melbourne.

How could you feel so blessed and have deep faith and love in such a condition?

You still have a dream of having arms and legs one morning when you wake up.

Father a pastor.

God's plan is beyond our understanding. We just live through it with the best of our might and enjoy the process. It is so touching that a cruel story turns into a testimony of Gospel.

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

my hair is turning white!

What is a youth? Impetuous fire. What is a maid? ......... Romeo & Juliet!

How is Elizabeth Taylor now? A beauty growing old. What a difficult life process.

I resist chemicals for my hair. Perm & colour treatment. But, can I do without them? NO.

Pau said after his admission into hospital and for a stay of few nights, he is now closer to the helplessness of old age & sickness. We should enjoy life while we can.

The man without limbs has visited HK. Nick.

Irene & Joycelyn were so kind that they came over to have a walk with Van in Sai Tso Wan Playground.

I took a walk downstairs in the garden. Nice plants. Clean place. Quiet surroundings. That is a re-winding after a day's hard work. I mean it. It is hard work - taxing on my body & soul.

I must treat myself with the greatest love & care. No other recipe.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

coco de mer

How could one be so knowledgeable?

Coco de mer produced in Seychelles. Say-shelles, not See-shelles.

Admirable.

J & K & I had lunch at L16, Hong Kong Park. I liked the pomelo salad most. Beef in yellow curry quite tough.

Tiring tiring work schedules. SOS!

I must remind myself not to do irrational purchases. Terribly enticing!

Monday, November 24, 2008

orange cashmere twinset

Sales everywhere.

Lunch at Lippo.

Weather is getting cooler by the end of this week.

I ate a bowl of Haagen-Dazs mango & passion fruits ice-cream after dinner.

Sunday, November 23, 2008

consultate of seychelles

Never heard! It consists of 115 isalnds. Half of the pople are illiterate. The President is elected for a 5-year term. What do they do in HK? So funny.

Pingpong. Xiao Nan Guo, TST East for lunch. Haven of Hope to visit Papa. He enjoyed the rice box. He is a survivor.

APM for shampoo and pedicure.

Dinner at KT.

Fairly has arrived.

Min has bought a toy skate board. She is jovial.

Bowen Drive & Bowen Road

We had lunch at Wu Kong, TST. Knuckles in wine sauce are delicious.

There was a swimming pool at St Paul's Co-ed just opposite St Joseph's College.

A walk in the evening along Bowen Drive, Bowen Road, then Hopewell Centre and back to Kennedy Road. It was the first time I saw the "Love Rock". It did not bring magic to me years ago. Dined there.

Spaghetti, linguine with tomato/herb sauce, anchovy and garlic French bread and Parma ham.

Hagan Daz ice-cream is forever delicious.

Talked to Min over IDD. She was in Harrod's London with 3 Chinese and 2 English boys. The 2 English boys were not fond of the dim sum at China Town especially the chicken feet. She told me so. They must find them scary.

Friday, November 21, 2008

QEH - room for 2

Shanghai Garden at Hutchison House was the only restaurant we could find a table in the vicinity.

It is the first time I visited the 2nd class room in QEH. There is a private bath & toilet for 2 to share and a LCD TV hung over the wall.

G is getting well. Birth, old age, illness & death - no one is spared.

We 3 had dinner at Hillwood Road for Vietnamese food.

What should I do tomorrow?

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Agnes has come back from Italy

She brought me a mug. I like it very much. I am fond of pretty cups/saucers and mugs.

Met J & S and had lunch at Man Ho Chinese Restaurant.

What had happened? I did not ask. The chemistry amongst people is a mystery. Timing is an essence. Conflict of interest is a cause anyway.

Cippino shared with B at Dan Ryan after work.

I will visit G tomorrow evening.

Pa is staying in Haven of Hope.

I am listening to the radio programme by Mak Yun-sau. He is so popular. Many children like him.

Min plays football. She does not have the saucer boots but only common trainers. She seems to have fun.

If others get devilish, I pray that I have the strength to retain my integrity without turning mean. That is difficult. Why should I? Coz I am tall!

not sufficienty loved

In want of love & care.

In want of rest & leisure.

In want of peace and security.

In want of a Master bedroom or an extra toilet in the flat.

In want of faith in God.

I lost $300 in mj game last Friday. But I have had a free lunch yesterday. Yummy.

Sterling pound has gone down to HK$11.60 today. In July, when I paid for Min's autumn term, it was nearly $16.00.

The drama was called "Crazy for her".

Wow!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

ppl are fired & flicka has died

Flicka has died. Poor dog. She ran out of the house. She was knocked down by a car. Sent to a vet for 3-4 days. After scanning, it was suggested she should be put to sleep by an injection. Maryjane & Tony accompanied her for the last day. She should not feel abandoned.

Pam did not tell Min. She knows Min is so fond of her. Every time she went to stay there, they played. I met her once. I feel uncomfortable, too. Ever since the first time Min saw Flicka, they liked each other. Ruby and Isabelle eye-witnessed the knock down when John brought them back after the weekend access.

Pau has been discharged this morning. Maggie has returned from Hokkaido. G will go to the hospital tomorrow and undergo an operation on Thursday.

I have bought 4 tickets for the drama. Ella has broguht tickets for "Brothers 4" in Convention Centre.

Both Micky and Laoshi will come to give Min tuition.

Min will be having a tour in NY in February.

Monday, November 17, 2008

why is he so bad-mouthed?

Age, schooling, illness and what knot do not mature him in any way. Chu accepts him and thinks there is nothing serious and nothing goes wrong. All bad guys get supporters. Birds of the same feather?

Somtimes, our kindness, generosity and forgiveness do not bring along any return. I wonder whether we are taken as cowardly, foolish, timid or .........deserving insults and disrespect coz we never hit back. When we protest or feel offended, we are criticized as not having right EQ, narrow-minded .........

I pray that I would meet more beautiful people.

Pau got the 2nd test on his stomach + blood-tests etc. Likely that he would go home tomorrow. Good news. Really happy to learn that. I visited him in QEH. I bought a pair of Scholl in Yue Wah. Porpor has not been shopping there for over 10 years.

I have to stay away from the nasty, foul-mouthed & annoying small characters in this world. As much as possible. To be exact, I should keep away from such negative folks. R never gives a damn to these guys. It seems they dare not irritate him. My friendliness is treated as weakness.

Ella proposed to see "Brothers 4". See if she can buy some tickets tomorrow.

I had an enjoyable seminar this afternoon in Central Library. Shum Yat-fei talked on Hanfeiji's Management Wisdom. I met Lam & James.

charity walk and charity concert

The usual group to walk at Tai Tam Reservoir.

Concert at HK Cultural Centre at night. I do not know anything about classical music. A difficult subject.

Pau has to stay in the hospital for further tests. Keep fingers crossed.

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Tsuen Wan Adventist Hosp & QEH

I had lunch with Van & A at Causeway Bay. Everything was fine.

In one afternoon, I visited Lucy with Estella in Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital and then I visted Pau in QEH. Dinner with Marga. The mock chicken and mock abalone in the Vegetarian Shop at Jordan Road seemed to be popular. But we would prefer the fungus and mushroom and fresh tofo next time.

Flowers and Winnie the Pooh for Lucy. She looked alright.

We are all worried by Pau. Just hoping for the best. Stress kills.

IDD Min. She stayed in school to do homework instead of going to Maidstone. She has selected Portsmouth instead of Hull upon our advice and kicked away Sterling which is in Scotland - too cold, too distant and with an accent strange to her.

farewell Ko

So Ko has served for 39 years. He had received the awards and we had a farewell dinner.

Time flies. Time flies. We all grow old if we had not died young.

Min is busy.

I will visit Lucy in the afternoon with Estella.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Adam's wedding banquet

He married Judy at last. The Kimberley Hotel. Met old folks. Lots of silly talks. Very entertaining. He drank a lot.

Usual lunch at Jaffe Road, Wanchai. A friendly group. Very comfortable company. Agnes is enjoying her cruise. So nice. Not sure whether I would enjoy one.

Simon said I am his idol. Hahaha! Sounds funny. Many of his customers are suffering from the credit crunch.

Should I go the show of Chan Po-chu?

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

marga is back

Sunday - played pingpong. But I will be walking for the charity next Sunday, I will skip it and also on the 30 coz of fun day.

Marga tried on the hematite bracelet. A bit too long. I asked Ah Yee to remove 3 pcs from it and made a pendant with a silver grey necklace.

Had lunch with JB at California. She is a sunny character.

Talked to Min & Pam last evening. UCAS discussed.

Dinner with A & Van. The financial turmoil is going to adversely affect many families.

Sunday, November 09, 2008

racial discrimination

On Friday, I attended a seminar on the topic of racial discrimination in Quarry Bay. Lots of issues to be considered as when the new laws are introduced.

Saturday - I got the Sogo card from BOC. Went to Kingsui's place. She bought some very expensive seafood from Wanchai market: star garoupa, geoduck, shrimps and crabs with roes. A big breakfast/brunch - we all refused to have any more food before 7 pm. Christina likes Coke so much that she in any event took a bottle. We had some potato chips and cheese tit-bits. A naughty weekend for women who are terribly conscious of calories and junk food etc. Slimness dominates the minds of thousands.

I WON! How seldom! HK$1,500. Even at the last 2 games - I got the only tile remaining and won.

I am going to play pingpong with Marga. She only returned last evening from Xian. Sounded cheerful. Lorraine & Jerry like the new look of Min. She is dealing with the UCAS stuff. I am not in a position to help in any way. The most I could offer is the school fees + boarding fees for 3 years if she succeeds.

Kingsui got a medal from CE as recommended by her Department. How great!

Obama won as expected

His wife is Michelle Robinson. His elder daughter Malia Ann and younger daughter Natasha (Sasha).

McCain is a man of integrity but old and conventional. His partner is the terrible Sarah Palin, a commonplace stupid see lai.

See what change and how good the change will bring about.

Much regret that Obama's granny died one day before his winning is announced.

On Tuesday, we had dinner at Lian, IFC. Celebration of M's birthday.

4 days just passed so quickly ever since my return from Singapore.

Must earn more money for more pleasure trips.

Friday, October 31, 2008

Have had a great time. Alex is a humorous driver. Sylvia is a cheerful girl.

Will go to Paddi's Market tomorrow morning. The jacaranda trees are amazingly beautiful.

Kept contacts with Van & Min. Min has a nice time at Pam's house. She was dressed as a witch for Halloween. white blouse & green skirt & a broom. Could not be more lovely.

Friday, October 24, 2008

check-in in the morning

SQ - in Kowloon Station. The ground crew is not as pleasant & smart as those in the Airport. Slower response and I did not see a smiling face. Most of the counters were idle. However, SQ has 2 women there. Lousy. Took 20 minutes to answer their enquiries and receive their payment for the excess luggange. They asked for a calculator to check and double-check. Another man tried to jump queue claiming that he had gone away to re-arrange his luggage. Not a nice experience to start with in the morning. The call-taxi service also declined my request. Perhaps they have lots of business. Then I could not get an aisle seat. So I picked a middle one. Asked staff about the fare. I am a country duck who has never travelled alone.

However, there comes the excitement, anyway.

I met the Doreys last evening in Shangri-la Hotel lobby. We chatted from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. I bought a shawl for Mrs Dorey. She was delighted and put it on at once. They are very caring teachers.

We also discussed about Min's academic results and choice of subjects etc. Dorey said next year when we meet, Min should be studying in the Univeristy already. How I wish it would be true!

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Phillip Island

Cat had been there also.

Lorraine was very tired when I tel her. I supposed life is a bit tough for her due to financial tsunami. I first heard for tsunami in Dec 2004. Now another kind of disaster.

A new induction course yesterday. Very useful and enriched contents. Wonder how the new people like it.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

penguin parade

Both Chu & Evelyn told me it would be freezing cold. Evelyn had blankets & hot coffee with her.

Wenxi is having O level exams.

Min is thinking hard about what subjects to choose.

Marga will fly on Thrusday.

Van's hi-definition TV is real good.

I bought rice with ham + bell peppers for lunch from Great and dinner at home.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

hatred is too intimate and intense a sentiment

Hatred is not permitted for anyone so easily. Who should deserve my hatred? Not he or she or they. Who cares?

Pingpong. Times Square. Aigle. A grey fleece jacket & a shocking pink goretex outfit.

Phillip Island - return of penguins at night. Freezing cold.

Charisma - to trim my hair.

Dinner at KT.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

sai tso wan park again

One hour of brisk walk in the morning with Nita.

Taliana for perming hair.

Window-shopping in Central.

Tea at McCafe.

Dinner at Telford with Van & Nita. Van likes my jade fish pendant. Blood sugar level lower & good condition.

Min played basket ball and claimed herself to be a great shooter. She might join war game today. She is happy in Bethany.

Empire Hotel, UCH

Lunch at the Chinese Restaurant at Empire Hotel, Wanchai. Dim sum of standard. Quite expensive.

UCH - check up. Normal condition. Next appointment in October 09. That is good news for me. I was so relieved.

Agnes came to my home for dinner. Honourable guest. She helped registering the anti-virus s/w. We bought a live fish from Park n Shop & 2 crabs. All steamed. Nita was more than happy to receive her. We had grapes & pears after meal.

Could not get hold of Min yet.

Watched Taipan every night at ATV. But I don't have the hi-definition box. So I can only watch the first half hour.

Friday, October 17, 2008

food & people

These form the main of my memory.

Wednesday - usual group at Jaffe Street, Wanchai for lunch. Dinner at QRE. Agnes is always ready to bring us to new places.

Thursday - lunch at canteen and dinner home. I went to Wanchai for a meeting after 5 pm.

Min asked me not to add her at Facebook. In fact, I do not know how to do it. She emphasized her account is for herself and her friends. She said that is for privacy reason that she would not join me. A typical youngster.

farewell lunch for Clement on Monday

Come and go.

Min had made a carrot cake recently. She remembers that I like carrot cakes, esp from Dan Ryan. However, she says lots of oil added, not really healthy. I asked whether it is butter. Her funny reply was "I do not mess up oil with butter."

It seems the financial tsunami is being warded off by all the authorities jointly. See how well it could turn out.

Kornhill & CCC

Lunch at Kornhill. I had lunch with 2 retirees and a young girl who just started working for 1 year. So we went for tea time - after 2 pm - for the privilege of half price for dim sums. That is preparatory for my retirement a few years later. Ka-yan told us stories about her customers. Amusing.

Supper at CCC. Marga played mj there with her friends. Peggy looked nice. We had western meals. Kar-yan did not join us. She has her friends from Liverpool. The 3 sisters have different characters but they are close to each other.

Radio programmes enrich my non-working days and nights.

Friday again

Min is busy. So I can't be peaceful and keep on thinking of her.

Chiuchow cuisine for lunch.

When I told a friend that I am terribly busy, he said many people just want to be busy and engaged in work but get unemployed.

Time flies. Another week.

degustation menu

It is a culinary term meaning "a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods.

Literally, it is "a tasting menu" in which a meal can consist of as many as 10 to 12 different courses. It is a single meal of many small but unfogettable signature dishes from the chef. French origin.

I like the mashed potatoes with black pepper and white truffle pate most. Joycelyn had the baked Alaska.

I have ordered for 5 tickets to the cancer fund orchestra concert in City Hall on 16/11. Marga is not interested & Irene will be in Shanghai watching some tennis match. Van & A will go.

"Connected" "Cellular"

Wonton noodles - Jeng Dou branch shop at Telford. Van & I went there for tasty noodles.

A movie of excitement. APM with Jeff & Jason. They like popcorn & coke so much.

TOTT's for dinner. The birthday of Joycelyn. Van bought her a rosy pink passport holder from Agnes b and me a Lesportsac. I took photos with my Samsung camera. I enjoyed their company very much. Decent, humorous and knowing best what is quality life.

Papa is happy with my caring for him.

to someone who cried desperately

1) Love yourself even if the whole world would not;

2) Why bother if someone tells you who and who do not like you; you may dislike others, too; how natural;

3) You said, "Why she has everything and I don't?" That could not be true. Focus on what you have. So unlikely that another person could have everything. If you meant she is one rank higher and earns $5,000 more per month, you are pretty narrow-minded. That is a stupid cause of your pains;

4) Life is far more interesting if you care to enjoy a good movie or a love song, a delicious meal or the fresh air in the garden early in the morning .......

5) No one should take away your dignity unless you permit.

Smile, Lady.

prasidha & celine dion

Saturday - worked in the morning. Had lunch with A & Van at APM. Viewed several flats, interesting to see the different interior decoration which turns a flat into various usages and looks.

Dr Hon. Tea at Pokka Cafe. Dinner at home.

Sunday - pingpong. I brought along the new camera and took photos with Marga & Wu. Heavy rain. I bought a pair of sandals as the gym shoes were soaked.

Yuen Long. A flat of 1,ooo sq ft. Blu-ray disc of Celine Dion's show at Las Vegas. It was such an enjoyment watching and taking a custard tart with a cup of Oolong tea. The Yuen Long Market is in some way like that of Sai Kung. We bought some shrimp roe noodles. I like the dining table and the side tea-poy. Edmond's little girl is called Cheryl.

I am thinking whether I should buy a Philips TV, 19" and place it in the bedroom.

Dinner at Porpor's home. The wall unit is useful & pretty. The kitchen unit good.

Stella worried that I would become very depressed, lonely & negative after Van's marraige & Min's going abroad. Are there any signs that make her think so?

Samsung NV30

Promotion price - $1,990.00. Oringial price is $2,790.00. For the golden week.

E said my dress is beautiful and I look young in it. It seems my new dresses are pretty. Every time I wear them, people around say so.

Melbourne is not as warm as I thought. Temperature diurnal range is 11 - 22 degrees C.

I like radio recently.

Typhoon signal no. 1 again.

i want to buy a new digital camera

I really want to have one for my own use.

The girls have theirs. When I borrow from them they will say they have a lot of photos in their cameras and I might delete them since I am clumsy.

The younger generation use mobile and cameras of better models. Parents sometimes use their discarded items. How cynical!

I spent the whole day in Miranda's home. Leo & she will go to Dubai on 2/10 for 5 days. They will live in the famous Yacht Hotel. The food there is as good as always. There is a new 'leg'. It seems retirees have to gather together for regular games.

taiji

Monday - lunch at Man Ho, arranged by Agnes. She is as enthusiastic as ever. We had budgeted and delicious food. She is very good in financial planning. Busy busy day. Stiff shoulders reflect the tension.

Nita brought the souvenir and the thank-you card to Dr Lui. He looked happy to receive them.

Tuesday - lunch & dinner with Van and A came to dinner at my home, too. He works late from Monday to Friday. Luckily, he goes to gym every Sunday. B has bought a flat in NT. He is happy with his conditions.

Min sounds alright. But mothers are always thinking of children. Children never grow up enough. Porpor double-boiled some chuenpei for me.

Papa got approval-in-principle the refund for the machine to assist his respiration in sleep.

Estella has given me the name of the taiji tutor. See if I have the determination to start.

Kwong is a fan of Paul Newman and several stars of his time.

Paul Newman

Pingpong. The German racket is more powerful than the Hung Sheung Hei - 6 stars. You like it or not. Marga has gone to Kota Kinabalu with Pau.

I walked through the Victoria Park to Causeway Bay to take a bowl of wonton noodles in Ho Hung Kee. The pink umbrella Van bought me is terrific. Light, pretty & UV protection. Collapsible.

I have started to like the radio very much since Van has moved out. Radio HK 2.

Albert Au is forever the boy in the neighbourhood. I have been listening to his folksong programme for one hour. So nice. Comforting. Brought back memories in the young days.

Paul Newman has died at the age of 83. His marriage with Joanne Woodward is enviable. Long lasting marriage is just like a fairy tale in Hollywood.

Agnes asked me about the English name of a certain shrimp. She thought it was scampy. I found from Wikipedia that it should be squillid mantis shrimp. Or simply mantis shrimp.

Dinner at KT with Van & A.

Min has gone to London yesterday with Winki & Billy. She is so excited about Soho. She has received the air-parcel. She has bought a cute gift for Uncle and a book frok Jeffrey Archer for me. She has got used to the bite already. Yet, the senses have not come back entirely.

Keep my fingers crossed.

Saturday, September 27, 2008

a walk in the peak

Always a pleasant experience to walk in the Peak and have all round views. A bit cloudy.

I failed to listen to Min and therefore wasted the efforts to send over the souvenir to Dr Lui. 5 day week.

I bought a pair of leisure pants - navy blue - good for travel.

Dim sum lunch with Van & A.

Dinner with Nita at home. It is going to be a home for the old-aged.

Friday, September 26, 2008

golden bauhinia

Lots of memories when we had lunch there. 3 years' LYO. The experience is unique. It was first time I got involved in a project of such scale and played such a leading role. Pressure, worries and sense of achievement. Lots of gains and fun, too.

Min played badminton with her school-mates.

Van & Andrew dined with me on Wednesday.

Marga will to go Kota Kinabalu with Pau this Sunday. I will play pingpong by myself. She will go to Beijing end of October. So she cannot join Lorraine & me to Australia.

Very excited about the trip.

typhoon no 8

I do not know since when that the names of the typhoons become so foreign to me.

I can hardly pronounce or remember one.

I likely the girls' names years ago.

Talked to Min over Skype. MSN Wenxi and Idd Lorraine.

I would like to go back to work tmr.

Terrible to stay at home with a typhoon forbidding us to go out.

Patrick Happy Birthday

Good company, good food, good environment & good chats ........ A pingpong racket.

Van's top got stained as the colour of the collars came off.

Talked to Min over Skype. She knew a lot of the HK news.

A typhoon is coming. Wow!

Monday, September 22, 2008

you don't mess with the zohan

Friday - lunch with WM at Thai Basil. Dinner at Hill Road. Lost again. I am a terrible player.

Saturday - seminar in the morning. Very interesting. Lunch at Sai Wan Ho. Tea at McCafe. Chatted with Min over Skype.
I brought Nita to see the movie & we had some wonton noodles near Times Square. See how lonely I am. The typical US exaggerated noisy, hilarious stuff on sex, monies and people's greed and US is the most accommodating place in the world ..... blah blah blah .....

Sunday - no pingpong as Wu could not book any table. She hates the free offer during these 3 months. Her schedules were often upset. Had tea with Ella and browsed at Sogo and the Causeway Bay areas. Dinner at Porpor 's house.

22 Sept is Jeff's birthday. We gave him red packets.

Chatted a lot with Min over Skype. She is still suffering from a cold. 2 days already. She is feeling uncomfortable. I told her about the poisonous dairy products. She is very angry about the incidents.

I read from a columnist about her views in respect of Wong Yuk-man. I share the same thoughts.

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Lehman Brothers & AIG

Wednesday - joined the Wanchai group for lunch as I really missed them. James said I am people-oriented. Sure, I am.

Dinner - a happy chat & nice food except that I had to prepare for the test today.

UCH - spent the whole day there. 7:45 am to 6:00 pm. Some miserable feelings returned.

Luckily the test results are all good. Much relieved.

Dinner with Porpor & Nita.

13 Sept 2008 - a nightmare for the global investment bank.

How much impact would it be on HK shareholders? Must be some terror for some time.

Min is back happy & more confident.

vacation leave

I had not cancelled today's leave although Michelle went back to UK last night. I deserve 1 day's relaxation.

I had lunch with Ber at APM. We chatted and chatted as if the 40+ years have not passed away. We have gone through childhood, teenage, work, marraige & children. She has retired for several years already and I am still a bread winner and a school fee earner.

She brought me to Mongkok to order for a sourvenir for Dr Lui. She is familiar with the shop there. She told me Ann's home is just like a rubbish bin or a dirty warehouse. How could her husband tolerate? But he has, for many years, and with a patient and smiling face. That is marraige.

Min has returned to school safe & happy. She has been tidying her room - tidying her room which she seldom does in HK. Totally spoilt. We love them, spoil them and then hate them for being spoilt.

Dinner home - congee. Must remember about the diet before the medical test on Thursday. God knows how scared I am.

mamma mia!

Must see the musical next time I go to London.

Meryl Streep is just wonderful. Pierce Brosnan is still very good-looking.

ABBA - those were the days. The songs bring back lots of memory.

Dinner at home.

kevin drove us to the Airport. Porpor enjoyed the latte from Starbucks.

Min forgot to place her manicure set in the suitcase. 2 items were thrown away. She was unhappy about it.

Wish her a safe journey and a smooth path ahead.

Will meet Ber tomorrow for lunch. She is a contented and mild lady. Her company is always soothing and gentle.

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Mid-autumn festival

Pingpong at QE Stadium. Very good facilities but the location is not that convenient for me.

Lunch with Marga, A, Van & Min at Causeway Bay.

Browsing around at Sogo. A pingpong racket with stickers are made in Germany.

Dinner at Porpor's home.

The Japanese pastries, Taipan moonckaes, Chiuchow mooncakes & Jenny home-made cookies from Stanley. Fruits.

Many children are playing downstairs with laterns.

Min will be leaving tomorrow night.

Saturday, September 13, 2008

lost again

From 10 am to 10:30 pm. Lunch & dinner and fruits in between.

There is a typhoon in Taiwan.

Min went to karaoke with friends.

Pingpong tomorrow.

Times flies. It is one week since I saw Wong Tszwah last Sunday.

Mid-Autumn festival.

Friday, September 12, 2008

much relieved

Min went to Dr Tong. Took photos and x-ray. Reset the braces. No decay. Less pain than yesterday.

Good condition. Wait for the senses to come back on lower lip and the small area beneath it.

Ho prefers less expensive restaurant. He is a decent person.

We will celebrate Patrick's birthday. The friendship is invaluable. We all wish the comradeship can continue forever. Nice to have friends of same wave length and sharing fun and difficulties though we do not think alike at all times. That is just natural. We are not robots.

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Sweeney Tod

The Demon Barber in Fleet Street - Johnny Depp. Most bloody & cruel movie.

Insufficient forewarning - Min has a hard time in having the arch bars removed. Luckily I have taken a day off to accompany her.

Had lunch with the 2 girls. Must treasure such time. Valuable.

HouLaoshi hates the leftists. You can say anything to her except .........

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

massage is useful

Lunch with Min.

Massage after work relieved some exhaustive & stiffened muscles.

Dinner with Van.

Hou Laoshi came.

Air-ticket for Min changed again to 15th night time. I will be missing her but for her future ..............

I like my haircut. Hay is cerintaly a good stylist.

Election

Voices or noises?

Philip always says I am a great Mom. He asks Min to love & respect me whenever he sees her. He thinks my support to the girls is great.

Busy busy busy.

Lunch at Lippo to farewell Pauline.

Ella is fine. She has lots of information about the Election and the candidates. She has strong likes & dislikes about the various political parties and individuals.

Min has gone out with her friends for Karaoke. I am the lonesome Mom who has a very quiet evening.

Lorraine has gone to Malaysia for business.

Sunday, September 07, 2008

Art - a French play by Yasmina Rezo

No pingpong today. Lunch at Gold Finch Restaurant at Lan Fong Road with Marga. She bought 1 cardigan and 1 top for Van. Blue tone.

Dayo Wong Tsz-wah.

It is a play about art and friendship of 3 men.

A large white painting - modern art and expensive.

Difference of opinions amognst friends. Very amusing.

Dinner at Porpor's home.

Christy has gone to study a second Master degree in UK with her younger brother.

See if their romance can survive.

Peter Lee & Jay Cheung

The elder brother of Bruce Lee had died in Austrlia while watching TV. It seems to be so painless. People related to him are well-known figures. 2 marraiges & 2 divorces. Lots of gains and lots of regrets.

Min brought me to Hair at Festival Walk. The stylist recommended was Jay. I like the hair cut very much.

Dinner at home with Nita. Min met her friends before she will fly back to UK one week afterwards. Charmaine in Paris, Axelle in Paris, Karin in LA.

Raymond will come back to study in HKU. He does not like Sydney U. He thinks life there is terribly boring. So nice to have choice.

I will go to see the show of Wong Tsz-wah tmr.

Van bought me a box of mooncakes. I bought one box today, too.

Friday, September 05, 2008

thank god it's friday

Dr Lui is so nice. The nurse, too.

The check-up is good. Everything in progress. Still, the numbness is there.

"Made of honour" at AMC PP with Min. Took some night snack at ZEN after that. Benny is always warm and courteous. He is a very good service provider.

Patrick Dempsey had married a woman of forties when he was 21. Can't imagine.

Thursday, September 04, 2008

yea it has been passed

Not feeling that terrific. Quite exhausted.

I am a wrestler. Everyday, I wrestle with different beings.

Not exactly rivals, but parties of various interests. Competing, conflicting. I am a loner in some way. A boy I know calls himself Loner Sam. He must be sad.

Often I bear bruises on my body & soul. My home is my shelter, my healing corner.

Life is a very complicated game.

Miranda tel me 2 days ago. We have known each other for about 30 years. We are friends throughout but sometimes we are more friendly, sometimes less friendly.

Meg thinks I love Min more than anyone else. Kwong said I am in love with Min head over heels.

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

will it pass tmr?

Who can relax totally and sever work from home life or leisure time or even sleep time?

I cannot.

Food & kind words can bring along comfort. Hot drinks, too.

I had lunch with Van & Min at Lippo. We talked a lot about everything..

Female colleagues said I should wear dresses, especially colourful ones as I look younger then.

Sing & Chi offered me an hour of rest after work in their shop premises. Free or charge - plus a cup of warm water.

Hou Laoshi came.

Both Agnes & Tam said Min looks prettier than before. The corrective surgery does her lots of good.

Talked to Marga about Gungung & Porpor. Aged people become more stubborn and attention seeking. We will be like that years afterwards?

Tuesday, September 02, 2008

a black dress with coloured floral pattern

Must reinforce myself.

Buying and wearing new clothes. Keep looking smart & trendy.

GBP is getting cheaper - around HK$14.00 per pound.

Van came back for dinner. A is still busy in his office.

Vita Calm seems doing Porpor good.

Monday, September 01, 2008

worked until 9:45 pm

Meeting until 1:35 pm.

Meg & I had lunch at Shiro, Lane Crawford. Japanese set lunch about $200.00 per head. Could not join the Wanchai group.

Our Father, thankful for that I am capable physically, mentally & emotionally. I have team-mates who are good-willed. Some to steer, some to do hands-on. I have sufficient banknotes to foot the cross-harbour taxi bill. A maid to prepare a delicious meal for me and a sweet girl to wait for me home.

See if Vita Calm can do Porpor any good.

Tons of work wait for me tmr.

Meryl Streep acting Mama Mia! Must watch. Kris Phillips = Fei Xiang - an Anglo-American, born in Taiwan.

Irene, Andrew & I all have different votes.

Sunday, August 31, 2008

boat trip on Saturday

I feel terribly sorry for Kitty Chong and her family. She was killed by an old big tree in Stanley. Like a flower blooming ..... and got stuck. May she RIP.

Saturday - boat trip around SaiKung with A's family. They are a group of decent and happy guys. Uncle Thomas + wife + daughter and Uncle Anthony + wife + daughter.

They are very active - swimming and rowing boats. Porpor, Min & I slept. So comfortable to sleep with sea breezes around you.

Sunday - pingpong. Sogo, Eugene Centre and Prince's Building.

Dinner at KT.

I bought a box of Vita Calm for Porpor. See if it can improve her sleep.

Min is still waiting for greater progress after her surgery.
